Yolanda McKean

Born on the south Kent coast Yolanda grew up in Rye, she studied painting at Edinburgh College of Art graduating in 2015. Following the degree show she was selected for the 'New Contemporaries’ exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy in 2016 and the Compass gallery’s 'New Generation' exhibition in Glasgow. She has exhibited as part of group shows in Edinburgh including a small solo exhibition at the Hermitage of Braid, and at the DOK Artist Space as part of the Edinburgh Art Festival in 2018. The paintings are mostly of familiar spaces or objects, exploring ideas of domesticity and wilderness, working from life, often outside, reacting to the space and place directly.
