Originally from West Yorkshire, Janet gained a BA in Printed Textiles at Liverpool Polytechnic and an MA in Printmaking at Camberwell UAL. Drawing on what surrounds her everyday life, zooming in on ‘the unremarkable’, she uses her own experiences, feelings, memories, pets & family as subject matter for her figurative and text-based works. As a painter printmaker, her creative methods explore drawing and painting using direct printmaking techniques, which include monotype, drypoint, woodcut and screen-printing.
She has exhibited widely in the UK: The RA Summer Show, The Keepers House at the Royal Academy, The Sunday Times Watercolour exhibition, The Royal Society of Watercolour Open, Discerning Eye, National Original Print Exhibition, RE: The Masters Relief, RE: The Masters Monoprint, The South East Open (Towner, Eastbourne), ‘The Art of The Printmaker’ Rye Art Gallery, London Art Fair, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, Multiplied at Christies, London Original Print Fair, The Hepworth Print Fair, The Other Art Fair.
